Web Exclusive: Bay Area Native A Pioneer in Convertible Jewelry

Debra Mitchell blazes the trail with her convertible jewelry line, Twisted Silver

Convertible jewelry: belts that become necklaces, then chokers, and then a multi-wrap bracelet. This is Twisted Silver jewelry. And Debra Mitchell, who moved to Pleasanton 15 years ago, is the creative force behind it all.

In July, Twisted Silver joined forces with Montreal-based designer Aqua Di Lara on the catwalk. Aqua Di Lara’s swimsuit line and Twisted Silver teamed up to make a splash at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami.

“It was incredible!” Mitchell said of the fashion show. “It’s so much fun, so much bigger than I even imagined.”

Celebrities such as Maria Shriver, Nicolette Sheridan and Jessica Biel have been seen wearing Twisted Silver pieces. Signature designs have also been featured in a variety of style publications and are a constant Photo by Kelly Boitanofixture at the Grammys and on the Style Network show, “How do I Look?”

“It’s one of those unexpected things that just happens and once it starts happening you realize the power of it,” Mitchell says of seeing her designs on today’s hottest stars. “Everyone wants their products worn by them so when they decide to use one of my pieces it’s really satisfying.”

Twisted Silver is available at boutiques nationwide. To shop locally, check out Moda Mi on E. Prospect in Danville and Specialtees on Moraga Rd. in Lafayette. You can also order your favorite Twisted Silver piece at twisted-silver.com.
