Your February cover asks, "Did your favorite make the list?", referring to best burgers. No, my favorite, Nation's Burgers, did not make the list and I am dumbfounded. Did your reviewers even try Nation's? During my over 40 years as a traveling salesman who has eaten burgers in most of the states and speaking as a burger lover since I was a teenager, I have never eaten a better burger than Nation's, and, yes, I've tried virtually all the "winners" chosen in you article. I think what makes Nations's the best is that all they serve is a bsic burger wihtout any of the (ugh!) fancy add-ons (mushrooms, grilled onions, hot peppers, etc.) and they do it extremely well. Just thinking of a Nation's burger has me drooling on the keyboard as I write this.

Your article about the family who remodeled their Alamo house to over 6000 square feet was appalling. No small family needs a homework room and playroom when the boys have bedrooms and a family room. This home is a vulgar representation of todays over consumerist attitude. Your writers might want to pick up a copy of Dwell Magazine and learn about small space living and the philosophy of reduce, reuse, recyle. When you write articles such as these all you do is encourage this selfish and wasteful way of living. Another reason I find your magazine so vacuous.

This past Friday, I invited about 12 friends to join me down at Bridges to enjoy their savory hamburger -- yes, it is definitely the Rolls Royce of hamburgers!! Their french fries weren't too bad, either. We received excellent service and since we arrived early, we all were able to sit together. During the summer, I have participated in their happy hour activity sitting on the beautiful patio area. Again, I have asked friends to join me.
Rose M. Azalde, Walnut Creek, CAI just got my February '09 issue and went straight to the Best Burgers article. After reading it I thought, "What gives, no mention of Eddie Papa's in Pleasanton?"
How could it not have made your list? Great Burger - Great Ambiance - Great Service!

Your excellent magazine recently reviewed my new restaurant Trattoria Corso. We’re so happy with the review! But there’s one glaring omission. While Wendy Brucker is the Executive Chef and owner of Corso, our Chef de Cuisine is Rodrigo da Silva. While Wendy engineered most of the original menu, Rodrigo has been responsible for all the new dishes, the creation of our salumi and cheese program and the day to day operation of the kitchen. The review reads like Wendy is at Corso cooking when that isn’t the case: she is at Rivoli cooking and just overseeing Corso. Your review is based on Rodrigo’s cooking and he unfortunately is not mentioned in the review at all. I’d like your readers to know that Rodrigo da Silva is our Chef and we are proud and humbled to have him in charge of the cuisine at Corso.

Enjoyed your recent article on burgers in our area but I feel you neglected one that is always consistent in flavor and cost effective for the family. George's in downtown Walnut Creek has been a solid restaurant for many years and I feel you should have acknowledged their commitment to our community.

In compiling this list, there was an emphasis on gourmet burgers. However, we did compile a separate, web-only, top-10 list of our favorites on the less expensive end of the burger spectrum, on which George's appeared. CLICK HERE to check out the full list.
