3 Thai — Pleasant Hill
Located in a former Togo’s, this casual, friendly Thai restaurant has been redecorated with a Pottery Barn–meets–Asian kitsch vibe. The dishes we tasted were all on the mild side but were made with vibrant, fresh ingredients. Dinner entrées range from $7.95 to $12.95, depending on whether you want vegetarian or would like meat or seafood added. Knock a dollar off that price during lunch hours. Appetizers range from $6.50 to $8.50.
Extra Value: Entrée portions are big enough to be shared by two.
Double Down: There’s nothing wrong with the goong sarong: tasty deep-fried prawns in a wonton skin, with a side of tangy plum sauce.
Spice It Up: The beef fried rice, while healthy, could benefit from a hit of Sriracha hot sauce.
Get Wired: The Thai iced coffee, mixed with condensed milk, makes for a sweet afternoon pick-me-up.
When in Rome: For real bargain hunters, The Salvation Army and Goodwill stores are right across the street.
Quick In and Out? 3 Thai isn’t that kind of party: This is a sit-down joint, so plan on lingering for a while.
