Got Flute?

Jazzman Oscar Reynolds has traveled the world playing music, but he always comes back to the East Bay. The Pittsburg resident, who goes to his native Bolivia to find special bamboo for his handmade flutes, will perform June 25 at Cal State East Bay’s Concord campus. A legend in his home country (and a hit in Paris), Reynolds has been featured on KGO radio’s “The Best Music You’ve Never Heard” for his unique blend of traditional Andean flutes and rhythmic guitars. Reynolds is eager to hit the stage for his upcoming gig. “I can’t breathe if I don’t play music,” he says. “It is my life.”

The Oscar Reynolds Trio performs at Cal State East Bay’s Concord campus, June 25 at 7 p.m., free, 4700 Ygnacio Valley Rd., www.karumanta.com.
