Drum roll please... the winners of our Third Annual Pet Madness contest is... Duke!

Congratulations to Wendy Lu from San Jose who wins a $100 gift certificate from our sponsor Dog Bone Alley pet store in Danville and Alameda. Here's a description of this high-flying squirt in Wendy's own words:

"Duke embodies the true spirit of man's best friend: unconditionally loving, extremely smart and talented (he's won 4 Bay Area Talent Contests), and an awesome partner in canine agility, all wrapped up in a furry 6 pound package. He brings a smile to everyone who meets him!"

Coming in second place (within a whisker of the top spot) is Sadie, the striped-socked terrier!

Congratulations to Alameda's Nanci Rider, the owner of the droopy-faced Woodstock and San Ramon's Jackie Harbour, owner of the comely Dexter—each wins a $25 gift certificate to Dog Bone Alley.

Says Rider of "the Am-Basset-or of fun" Woodstock: "Woody was born in a puppy mill in Nebraska in 2003. My partner Rik, who was inexperienced about reputable breeders found him in the newspaper. He was just trying to mend my broken heart a week after losing Linus, our Basset Mix. Woody was underweight, had pneumonia and was full of parasites inside and out. We nursed him back to health and he grew into a handsome boy! He's gentle and kind and the biggest goofball ever!"

And Harbour of Dexter: "Dexter came into our life after our 20 year old cat passed away. He helped us move on and help me (Jackie) heal from the loss of a long time friend. Dexter is a lovey boy and very fun, plus he acts like a dog....he eats everything!"
