3-D concert adds more psychedelic programming for the Cal Symphony.

Whatever it is that they’re putting in the punch at those California Symphony planning meetings—it’s working. In January, the Symphony sold out both nights of its Grateful Dead–inspired program (conductor Barry Jekowsky sported tie-dye and tails). This month, more minds will be blown at the world’s first 3-D symphony. As Cal Symph performs Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a suite of high-def space videos will be projected for an awestruck glasses-wearing audience.
