Three ways to get your own taste of Livermore

Livermore Valley boasts more than 40 wineries making Pinots, Cabs, and Chardonnays—but hey, you knew that. What you might not know is that there are some fun new ways to experience our backyard wine country—by bike, limo, and hotel.
Bike

What you get: 10- to 12-mile bike tour of three to four wineries, with a gourmet lunch. Premium package includes tasting fees, lunch at Campo di Bocce, olive oil tasting, port, and dessert.
Cost: Regular package: $75/person; premium package: $140/person; plus $30 bike and helmet rental.
Benefits: Working off the calories you’ve consumed while appreciating the region’s picturesque terrain. However, any desire to ride uphill may diminish after the third tasting.
Limousine

What you get: Six hours of chauffeured transportation, with complimentary in-vehicle liquor and sparkling wine.
Cost: From $450 to $1,110, depending on the car and group size, which can range from five to 35 people.
Benefits: Designated driver is paid not to judge your choice of wineries or level of inebriation—or to gripe about having to drive.
Hotel

What you get: Five-hour tour of wine country, one-night stay, town car and driver for two, and tasting at four wineries.
Cost: Starts at $473/night.
Benefits: It’s a quick mini vacation, without logging serious air or road miles.
