Seuss on the loose
You’ll come face-to-face with brown bar-ba-loots, star-belly sneeches, and ruffle-necked sala-ma-goox in downtown Pleasanton when the artwork of Theodor Seuss Geisel—aka Dr. Seuss—is displayed at the newly expanded Studio 7 Fine Arts gallery.
The Cat in the Hat Exhibition of sketches and paintings by the beloved children’s book author will include Geisel’s “secret” collection of personal artwork, which was discovered after his death in 1991, and the unveiling of a bronze Cat in the Hat statue by sculptor Leo Rijn.
“Dr. Seuss is so nostalgic,” says Studio 7 owner Jamie Dowell. “Everyone can relate to his work because we all loved his books as children.
”The Cat in the Hat Exhibition runs October 27–November 12. A reception on November 4 includes the sculpture unveiling and a discussion with Seuss expert William Dreyer. Studio 7 Fine Arts, 77 W. Angela St., Pleasanton, (925) 846-4322, www.studio7finearts.com.
