The 202 Grill — Danville
The Livery's new eatery combines burgers-and-fries with Indian cuisine.
How about a side of naan with that burger? Recently reopened in Danville’s Livery shopping center, The 202 Grill has kept much of the inexpensive burgers-and-fries menu it inherited from the previous tenant, Bergie’s. But new owner Vinay Patel has added a South Asian spin to the small eatery, sprinkling in Indian-themed items, including chicken tikka ($5.99), kebabs ($5.99), and tilapia marinated in Indian herbs and spices ($5.99).
For a real culture clash, check out the lamb burger served with sides of mint chutney and yogurt raita ($5.99). Admittedly, the Indian spices mixed into a Niman Ranch patty are a little surprising at first, but this Bollywood-meets-Hollywood creation actually tastes good.
For less adventurous eaters, 202’s menu offers plenty of traditional options. Burgers (all made with Niman Ranch beef) start at $3.99 for a plain hamburger and end at $6.99 for the double cheeseburger—add fries or salad and a soda for $2.99. Cold and hot sandwiches cost no more than $5.99 while salads, including Cobb, tuna, and Caesar, top out at $7.
Kid-Friendly: Children 12 and under can choose from a hamburger, hot dog, PB&J, grilled cheese, or chicken strips, plus fries and soda, for just $4.99.
Adult-Friendly: Take advantage of The 202 Grill’s new beer and wine license, and enjoy an adult beverage on the sunny front patio (or under a heat lamp when it’s chilly).
Kid- and Adult-Friendly: Cold Stone Creamery is across the parking lot, if you need to cool down those Indian spices. Or, opt for one of 202’s milk shakes, which are just $3.
