Diablo Review:

This restaurant, named for the snow-capped Alborz Mountains of Iran, has long pleased diners at its original location on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco. When owner David Dornan opened a branch in downtown Berkeley, East Bay Persian food lovers rejoiced. We can see why. The food here stays true to its origin, with dishes such as aash reshteh, an herbaceous medley of noodles, dill weed, and beans topped with whey and fried shallots. Succulent grilled kebabs come with fluffy basmati rice and grilled steak tomatoes. We also enjoyed the tender braised lamb shank over basmati rice. Waitstaff and decor are direct, but serviceable. The wine list is similarly spare, but you’ll find some hearty reds that complement the fare. Lunch and dinner daily.
