Diablo Review:

The signature details that made Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe in Emeryville a cult favorite among hipsters are just as prominent at the new location in downtown Oakland, right next door to the Fox Theater in hipster central. A row of Barbie dolls dressed in Rudy’s uniforms lines the walls above the diner-style booths, and the metal frame of an Airstream trailer hides a private table for 15 in the back. True to its roots—Rudy’s has a member of Green Day among its founders—items on the comfort food–filled menu are named for punk songs, such as God Save the Chicken and the Give ’em Enough Meatloaf. But Rudy’s is best for brunch: Whether it’s for down-home heart-wreckers like the hash browns topped with cheddar and an egg sunny side up, or the veggie scramble with veggie sausage, Rudy’s knows eggs. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
