After an impressive makeover, Alamo’s Forli has reemerged with new decor, a new chef, and a new menu. Still a haunt for nostalgia seekers (there’s a mug shot of Frank Sinatra on the wall) and a place to enjoy good, old-fashioned Italian food, the New Ristorante Forli boasts a renewed focus on fresh pasta and seafood. New speciali della casa include a fettuccine with duck ragu and porcini mushrooms made with buttery fresh pasta, and the mixed fish grill: on our visit, a fish-lover’s dream of salmon, basa, and escolar served with sautéed vegetables. The restaurant’s signature dishes are still reliable and delicious, including the baked salmon prepared in a champagne-mushroom sauce and the savory, tender osso buco (braised veal shank). Watch for special live music nights, dinner dances, and other events. Lunch Thurs.–Fri., dinner daily.
