Husband-and-wife piano duo Mark Anderson and Tamriko Siprashvili may have met in Eastern Europe, but they’ve made their sweetest music in the East Bay. The Pleasanton couple’s February 12 performance at Amador Valley Theater will mark their 14th annual show benefiting the city’s Arts in the Schools program.
Though their flying fingers have propelled them throughout Europe and Asia, Anderson says he "always wanted to contribute to the artistic life around here." After they married, Siprashvili, a native of the former Republic of Georgia, was eager to help.
The couple’s first benefit show helped purchase a piano for the Amador Valley Theater. Since 1992, the series of performances has raised more than $160,000, exposing Tri-Valley students to orchestras and operas and other cultural events.
While audiences enjoy the exciting interplay of two masters performing classical standards as well as lesser-known gems, the cowinners of a Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council award receive their own compensation: "It’s another level of bonding that not every [couple gets to share," says Anderson.
February 12, Amador Valley Theater, 1155 Santa Rita Rd., Pleasanton. Tickets $12–$25. For tickets, call (925) 931-3444 or go to www.civicartstickets.org.
