The Lesher Center for the Arts is pleased to have two perennial stories of love this upcoming Valentine’s Day week.
First up is Center REP’s take on George Bernard Shaw’s classic romantic triangle, The Arms and the Man. This witty and compelling story (and Shaw’s most popular play), tells of how Raina must choose between the practical Captain Bluntschli and the dashing Sergius.
One-upping this amorous triangle is Philip Barry’s riotous story of unrequited love, The Philadelphia Story, featuring three love stories between five different people (at least). He loves her but she divorced him and is now engaged to this other man but develops feelings for a third man who is loved by another woman… Got it? The Oscar-winning film version with Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Ruth Hussey is not a bad runner-up version, either, for those who want a romantic-night-in! Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive Walnut Creek 94596, times and prices vary, 925-943-7469, lesherartscenter.org/arms-and-the-man-4/ and lesherartscenter.org/the-philadelphia-story

Calling all (wine) lovers! The Napa Valley Wine Train will transform into the Napa Valley Love Train on February 10, 11, and 14. Travel through the stunning wine country, listen to the lilting melodies of strolling musicians, and enjoy the company of the one you love in this elegant, classic three-hour excursion. The Napa Valley Wine Train Station, 1275 McKinstry Street Napa CA 94559, dinners all three days with suggested arrival time at 5:30 and boarding at 6pm; lunch also available on the 14th with suggested arrival time at 10:30am and boarding at 6pm, $119-149 per person, 707-253-2160, winetrain.com/holiday/valentines-day

No fuzzy pink hearts at Dublin's Bunjo’s Comedy Lounge this V-Day, which will host their Anti-Valentine’s Day Comedy Bash. If you want to share your dating horror stories (or just your general frustration with the holiday) then the audience-led “Airing of Grievances” should be the perfect venue. Headliner Brendan Lynch and host/Chief Executive Comic John DeKoven will take over afterwards. Bunjo’s Comedy Lounge @ The Willow Tree, 6513 Regional St Dublin 94568, 7:30pm, $10, 925-264-4413, bunjoscomedy.com
