For the fourth year running, U.S. News & World Report has ranked the John Muir Medical Center as one of America’s best hospitals. Every year U.S. News & World Report evaluates close to 5,000 hospitals to determine which are the best for different diseases and disorders so that patients can determine where they want to go to get the best possible care. John Muir was rated #40 in Orthopedics and #50 in Gastroenterology (study of the digestive system). Other local hospitals that received high rankings were Stanford Hospital and Clinics in Palo Alto, which was highly ranked in Cancer, Gynecology, Psychiatry, and Orthopedics treatment, and UCSF Medical Center, which was highly ranked in Diabetes and Endocrinology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Urology. John Muir will likely only get better when their $620 million expansion of the Walnut Creek campus is completed. The new expansion will include more beds, a new helicopter pad, state of the art technology, and eco-friendly features.
