Hospice Care



Number of patients the hospice has served from 1977 to 2006.


Number of patients who received care in 2006. Patients generally have six months or less to live, and receive care at home, in skilled nursing homes, in residential care facilities, or at the hospiceís Bruns House in Alamo.


Percentage of the hospiceís patients who are suffering from cancer. Other illnesses include heart and lung ailments, liver or kidney failure, Alzheimerís disease, and strokes.


Number of children served by hospiceís Comfort for Kids program in 2006.


Dollars raised by the hospice in 2006 to help pay for patient care, grief counseling, community education, and other programs. The money comes from a
variety of fundraisers and the hospice ís five thrift shops.
