Oasis's New Oasis

Melanie James

Oasis Fusion Grille added a stylish new venue to Pleasanton’s Main Street with the opening of its wine lounge in October. The restaurant has been serving Afghan cuisine since 2005, and its new bar offers international wines and champagne cocktails.
The Mediterranean Nights cocktail, made from an alluring mix of raspberry puree, fresh lime juice, mint, and champagne, is the shining star of the drinks menu. It’s fruity but not overly sweet. The bar doesn’t serve hard alcohol, but you don’t miss spirits in drinks such as the Twisted Mojito, with fresh mint, sweetened lime juice, and champagne. Both drinks make nice aperitifs.

The wine list includes bottles from France, Spain, Portugal, and Chile, with numerous California wines, including an ’05 Four Vines Paso Robles Zinfandel and the locally produced Battaion Blanc de Noir sparkling wine from the Livermore valley. Wines are available by the glass or bottle only—no half-glasses—but the staff will gladly let you sample wines as you make your decision.

Food offerings in the wine lounge include snacks, such as lamb lollipops, fiery tiger shrimp, hummus-stuffed cucumbers, and Margherita or barbecued chicken flatbread. Appetizers are half price during the daily happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m.
