Oakland Restaurant Week

Need an excuse to see what Oakland’s foodie buzz is all about? During Oakland Restaurant Week—from January 14 to 24—top restaurants will offer special deals on lunch and dinner. Kim Bardakian, director of PR and Community Relations for Visit Oakland, dishes on what’s new—and what to eat—during Restaurant Week.
Q: What’s new this year?
A: It is going to be bigger. In previous years, we’ve had around 80 restaurants, but this year we are expecting more than 100 restaurants. A few new faces are Parlour, Salsipuedes, and Overland.
Q: Which big names are returning?
A: Lungomare (which was slammed last year), Ozumo, Hutch, Hopscotch, Picán . . .
Q: What do the restaurants offer during the week?
A: Typically, they offer a deal on lunch and dinner. Sometimes, they may do a three-course meal or offer a specialty cocktail.
Q: Why is restaurant week so special?
