Bidding for Bobbles
If you thought the Beanie Baby craze was over the top, consider the wild frenzy going on over Oakland A’s bobbleheads.
The coveted collectibles have been appearing on eBay before they have even been given out to fans attending select A’s games. We noticed a Milton Bradley bobble on sale a full two weeks before its giveaway date (the Buy It Now price was $30.95, plus $9 shipping). Apparently, certain sellers post the item by pulling the image off the A’s website, then make sure they are one of the first 15,000 fans to enter McAfee Coliseum on giveaway day to pick up a doll.
Want to get in on the action? Get tickets to the July 21 game versus Baltimore, then arrive at the ballpark early to score a Mike Piazza bobblehead. These should be prime eBay bait because (1) Piazza is a sure-bet Hall of Fame player and (2) Piazza is signed to a one-year deal, so his green-and-gold bobble could well be a one-of-a-kind item and, thus, highly collectible. Ka-ching!
