+ In our April issue, we gave Olive boutique an Eco Award for supporting the green cause, with its Earth-friendly fashions. And our readers agree: This is the place to shop for cool clothes that don 't hurt the environment. At Olive, you'll find everyday basics such as jeans and Ts, or edgier designs, with zippers on the diagonal, oversize buttons, and ruched seams. Plus, eco-fabulous handbags, jewelry, and other accessories. Olive has you—and your conscience—covered.

+ My friend Sara isn’t prone to raving about hair products. So when she called just to tell me about a new treatment from Milan and started using words like “sparkles,” “shine,” and “magic,” I knew I’d have to get an appointment with her stylist at Danville’s Opulence IV You. The 15-minute Alfaparf Milano treatment gave my hair megawatt shine and Farrah Fawcett body. Opulence is the only salon in the 925 or 510 to carry Alfaparf. When you make an appointment, ask for owner Susanna Stroberg because she’s likely to pass along styling tips she picked up working for Frédéric Fekkai. Treatment is $120 with shampoo and blow-dry, or $32.50 to apply at home.

+ You know that oxygen facials—in which moisturizers, humectants, and vitamins are sprayed on the skin with pressured oxygen—are all the rage in Hollywood. But you don’t want just any old oxygen facial; you want the one that Madonna, Gwyneth, and Justin swear by. You also want it done by someone with impeccable training, and that would be Marlies Taylor, who is a rep for Intraceuticals and teaches spas how to apply the celebrities’ facial of choice. A Pleasant Hill native who has been developing treatments for spas across the country for more than 15 years, Taylor opened her own salon in Walnut Creek in April so she could bring her expertise back home.
