The Short Story on Shorts
Shorts are IN for summer, and if you haven’t sported a pair recently, here are a few style tips:
*Walking shorts (approximately 12” inseam) and short shorts are perfect for petites. Both styles will flatter shorter legs. Show more leg, and they’ll look longer. Long-legged ladies have the benefit of choosing any style of shorts. Capris, bermudas and short shorts are all great looking on these lucky gals.
*“City shorts”, full-cut, at or right below the knee, are an option for the casual workplace. These shorts, in the same fabric as summer slacks, are paired with a matching jacket, a tailored blouse, and work-appropriate shoes. Don’t try to dress up cotton khaki shorts!
*Convertible cargos—from slacks to capris or from capris to Bermudas—are the perfect travel item. In a lightweight cotton fabric, you can wash them in any hotel sink, and they’ll dry overnight. If you have short legs or thick ankles, capris are not the best choice, as they will make your legs appear shorter and thicker.
*What shoes to wear with shorts? Try this season’s favorite espedrilles, ballet flats or wedges. Just stay away from the running shoes, please!
*And most importantly, shave or wax your legs, and don’t even think about wearing hose.
