Feeling Feverish

Mixers go natural with carefully brewed tonic water, ginger ale and more

You insist on organic cream for your fair-trade coffee. Why sully your Ketel One vodka with a generic brand of tonic water? That’s what the founders of Fever-Tree asked themselves before launching a line of premium mixers: tonic water, club soda, bitter lemon, and ginger ale, all made with natural ingredients.

This summer, the San Ramon importer for the British drink company is rolling out the latest product to hit the States: ginger beer. Unlike regular ginger ale, which has fresh green ginger added to it, this nonalcoholic drink has a blend of gingers brewed right into it. Fever-Tree’s version has a sharp bite, giving British expats a welcome taste from home, while Americans might prefer theirs mixed into a Moscow Mule or a Dark ‘n’ Stormy. Get yours at Prima, Walnut Creek Yacht Club, or Élevé, which serve Fever-Tree, or shake your own after a visit to BevMo or Whole Foods.
