What are some must-have pieces for summer?
I love sailor shorts with a great pair of platform wedges. Wedges are always a popular look in the summer, and they are back again this year. Also, short jumpsuits in different colors and prints.
How do you make a short jumpsuit work for everyday wear?
You want to look sexy and sophisticated, without overdoing it. If you are going to reveal a lot of leg with a short jumpsuit, make sure to have full coverage on top. Classic accessories such as a vintage silk scarf or a string of pearls can add some sophistication—sexy, yet still classy.
Would you recommend any stores in the East Bay to stock up on summer essentials?
Sway in Concord and Oakland is a great place to pick up a cute jumpsuit, and it’s really affordable. I also love Jeremys on College Avenue for affordable fashion and Betsey Johnson in Walnut Creek for summertime dresses.
What are this year’s summer shoe trends?
No more gladiators. I think this summer you will see less of the gladiator strappy style and more ankle-wrapped and cuff sandals. Also, booties with an open toe. And a great pedicure is essential. I love Tootsies on College Avenue [in Oakland and on Prospect Avenue in Danville].
What can we look forward to from your line and shop this summer?
Lots of sheer white and long summer dresses with high slits. I am also working on incorporating batik into my designs. Loft 1513 will also be carrying a new line of Cambodian silk and cotton scarves called Karmas that could be great summertime accessories.Lamadora’s shop is located at 1513 Church St., San Francisco, (415) 695-0201, loft1513.com.
