Going to see a new Pixar movie in June is becoming an annual tradition. And this year is no exception. The Emeryville-based animation studio is back with Brave.
Fans can expect typically groundbreaking animation along with a number of other Pixar firsts. Brave features the studio’s first female protagonist, a Scottish princess who is aces with a bow and arrow. It’s also Pixar’s first fairy tale, and judging by the spooky supernatural scenes in a Japanese trailer leaked onto YouTube, Brave looks to be its creepiest story yet.
We’re betting that Brave will mark a solid return to form from our favorite neighborhood movie studio. Last summer’s effort, Cars 2, was a surprising disappointment, receiving a favorable rating of just 38 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
But hey, that was last summer. This year, on June 22, the wizards at Pixar are taking us to a Brave new world.
