Twelfth Night
Cal Shakes kicks off its 2015 summer season in Orinda with the comedic tale of shipwrecked twins and mistaken identity. calshakes.org.


Bay Area Book Festival
Two hundred authors gather in downtown Berkeley for this free festival, featuring writers such as Judy Blume and Michael Chabon, an art installation made from 50,000 books, and cooking demonstrations from food writers. baybookfest.org.


An Evening with King Henry VIII
The infamous English monarch, known for executing or divorcing four of his six wives and splitting from the Roman Catholic Church, takes the stage at Pleasanton’s Firehouse Arts Center. firehousearts.org.


Livermore Rodeo
The 97th annual event features queen and princess competitions, a BBQ mixer, family night, a cowgirl luncheon, and plenty of bull riding. livermorerodeo.org.

Food and Drink

June Wine Walk
Collect your map and commemorative wine glass before sipping and strolling your way through more than two dozen downtown Walnut Creek restaurants and retailers, which will be serving NorCal wines and light bites. walnutcreekdowntown.com.


Summer Arts Fair
More than 200 experienced and emerging designers showcase their one-of-a-kind goods—including ceramics and housewares, jewelry and accessories, couture clothing, and collectible art—at The Craneway Pavilion in Richmond. kpfa.org.

Opera in the Park
Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, and Dad to Walnut Creek’s Civic Park for a Father’s Day tribute concert, featuring four opera artists performing classics such as “O mio babbino caro” (“Oh my beloved father”) from the famous composer Giacomo Puccini. festivalopera.org.
