The Lafayette incarnation of Yankee Pier is a pretty chichi spot to ride out a nor’easter, but one taste of the chowdah and you’ll be remembering counter service by a rocky harbor. Yankee or not, you’ll find oysters from the raw bar are fresh as ocean spray; check out the Fanny Bays. Popcorn shrimp are surprisingly tender. The petrale sole scores points for the Pacific, especially alongside beautiful sautéed spinach and whipped potatoes. The tuna and jack is your grandma’s tuna melt, except better in a buttery toasted soft roll. Linguini with veggies and clams would fix up an Italian fisherman. And the kids’ menu offers real food. The desserts, including the butterscotch pudding, rival sister restaurant Lark Creek’s. Ditto on the wines. Lunch and dinner daily.
