How to go Pro

Social networking goes to to the pros

Courtesty of Make it Pro

Is your child the star of the soccer team? Maybe he or she even has a shot at the big time, but you’re just not sure how to get there. There’s a new website that could help get your kid from the local leagues to the World Cup.

Make It Pro is a new social networking site for competitive athletes. The website is the brainchild of Walnut Creek residents Jill Osur, a former senior vice president of Special Olympics, and Bill Duffy, a sports agent with more than 50 NBA clients. The site is designed to give aspiring athletes, coaches, fans, and parents advice and the inside scoop from a range of pro athletes.

One such athlete is Patty Mills, a St. Mary’s College player who was recently signed to the Portland Trail Blazers. “I was the one kid carrying a basketball in a place where all the other kids played footy or cricket,” says Mills, who grew up in Australia. “I would have loved to have more information about how to develop a basketball career and get a shot at the NBA.”
