Cheap Eats: Blossom Bee

Thai fusion crepes in Dublin clock in with great prices.

Published:

Fusion cuisine has a rich history in the Bay Area (heck, there’s even an Iranian-Italian restaurant in Rockridge), but Blossom Bee’s concept might be a first.

Tucked away in a Dublin shopping complex, this homey restaurant combines American-style crepes with Thai cuisine, forming a surprisingly tasty menu of crepes fusion. That means if you don’t feel like one of the restaurant’s standard crepes, such as the fresh start (with ham, egg, onion, pepper, and cheese), you can get adventurous with Thai-influenced options like the Bangkok (roasted beef, red onion, mint, lemon juice, ground rice, and dried chili).

We also dug the more Continental breakfast–style Dublin rancheros, a saucy combo of tender chicken, not-too-dry scrambled eggs, onion, tomato, chili pepper, cheese, and salsa.

And maybe the best thing about Blossom Bee is that it fuses two other concepts: generous portions (crepes are big enough to share if you’re not too hungry) and affordable prices (ranging from $6.95 to $8.95). That’s why this unusual concept has staying power.

DIY Crepes: Not happy with the choices? You can create your own crepe by paying for each filling a la carte.

Sweet Tooth: There are several dessert crepes on the menu, including a couple of tropical options like the Tropicana, with mango, pineapple, banana, crème fraîche, and toasted coconut.

Drink up: In addition to 10 smoothie options, Blossom Bee offers oversized glasses of supersweet Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee.

Blossom Bee, 7335 Village Pkwy., Dublin, (925) 999-9250. Breakfast Fri.–Sun., lunch daily, and dinner Mon.–Sat.
