Cheap Eats: Tandoori Pizza

Can't decide on Indian or Italian for dinner? Have both!

Why go? It sounds improbable, but the food at this Indian-Italian pizzeria is as tasty as it is unusual. And there are still great pepperoni pies if you’ve got a traditionalist in your midst.

What’s the vibe like? As casual as it gets. Nearly every seat has a clear sightline to one of the big-screen TVs, but it feels nothing like a sports bar.

What to order? While the Italian classics have a lightly puffy crust with a simple tangy sauce and generous toppings, it would be a crime not to get one of the 10 or so fusion versions, half of which use chicken as the protein. Pick a pizza that reflects your taste in Indian cuisine. Our favorite was made with curry, cilantro, and both mozzarella and paneer—the firm, mild Indian cheese that works so well with spice.

Added bonus? Skip the soda, and try a creamy and chile-taming mango lassi.
