Cheap Eats: Coffee Shop
Get your caffeine fix at this hot spot!
By Cali Godley
Why go? The urban-esque Coffee Shop in Walnut Creek set a new standard for food-friendly coffeehouses. This more relaxed location in Lafayette builds on the original with a staff fully meshed in its decidedly uncorporate culture.
What’s the vibe like? With the look and feel of a summer cottage, Coffee Shop’s welcoming atmosphere is reflected in a communal patio with nearly a dozen picnic tables, and a toasty interior with crafted retail products, baskets of bananas and apples, and a large chalkboard menu.
What to order? House-made pop tarts, tasty waffles, and rustic avocado toast for breakfast; grilled prosciutto Manchego and cranberry turkey club sandwiches for lunch; and gourmet flatbreads for dinner. Pour-over local coffees (including Zolo Coffee Roasters in Alamo) and iced tropical brews.
Added bonus: Beer, wine, and a serious selection of coffee-friendly liquors and liqueurs. Game nights on Wednesdays and open mic nights on Thursdays.
How much? $3.95–$14.50 for food; $2.50–$5.00 for coffee.
Where is it? 50 Lafayette Cir., Lafayette, (925) 962-9537, coffeeshop411.com
