Shop Talk — October 2008
Bay Street Emeryville’s new denim bar, Jeanomix (pictured), conjures a neighborhood watering hole, with bar stools, a pool table, and a plasma television tuned into the sporting event du jour. Bartenders will pour you a pint of root beer straight from the tap before helping you navigate 15 brands and hundreds of styles. The dungaree selection includes high-end labels True Religion, Kasil, Paige, and J Brand. You’ll also find Morgan Oakley handbags, Molokini jewelry, and tops by James Perse, Splendid, and Sanctuary.
Broadway Plaza is adding another upscale retailer to its roster. Mercer Boutique opens midmonth, selling accessories, sexy tops, dresses, and T-shirts by popular designers Marc Jacobs, Rebecca Taylor, James Perse, Trina Turk, and Michael Stars.
A second Geoffrey Scott boutique is slated to open later this year at Blackhawk Plaza. The accessories collection will be larger than at owner Geoffrey Cooper’s Hartz Avenue store in Danville. Expect jewelry by CC Skye, watches by Glam Rock and Breil Milano, handbags by Botkier and San Francisco–based Goldenbleu, and clothing by Tory Burch, Rebecca Beeson, and Robert Rodriquez.
Lafayette resident Christine Flanagan is opening Stella Luna, a candle and gift store, in Danville’s new Rose Garden center. In addition to paraffin, palm wax, and beeswax candles, the store has a DIY candle studio. Other Rose Garden additions include a chic pet store, Dog Bone Alley, and an upscale baby boutique, Baby and Kids.
In Livermore, Dana’s Bridal has opened at 1987 First Street, carrying stylish essentials for a walk down the aisle (think floor-sweeping bridal gowns, tuxedos, tiaras, and ring-bearer pillows), as well as cocktail attire, shoes, handbags, and overnight totes for the honeymoon.
