Farmer's Market Find: Pomelo

Look for this flexible citrus fruit in farmer's markets this October.

According to Daniel Clayton, chef-owner of Nibbler’s in Pleasant Hill, October is all about citrus—in particular, the pomelo. Like a grapefruit but with softer acids and warmer aromatics, it can be used fresh in salads and salsa, in compote with yogurt or ice cream, juiced in vinaigrettes for saucing fish, or even gently cooked into marmalade. “They’re just a delight when they come in each fall,” says Clayton.
