Formerly the upscale Izzy’s Place, Alamo Grill has gone casual, doing away with the sleek wall separating the lounge and dining room to create a convivial space. The kitchen covers all the bases: You can drop more than $30 on prime rib and sit in a royal red corner booth, or have a $14 French dip at the bar. Either way, start with the chilled wedge salad—the best we’ve had—made with crisp bacon, Maui onions, and avocado. The Grill’s signature ribs are prepared three ways (steamed, flavored, or grilled) and slathered with BBQ sauce. An order of those and the family-size nachos—a teetering mountain topped with scoops of sour cream and avocado—make for a real hands-on party. Dinner daily.
