With just a few small tables on the sidewalk out front, and little more than a take-out counter inside, Caña Cuban Café is just a few steps up from a food truck—authentic, quality food included such as tender fried plantains and crisp fried beef empanadas. For now, the café packages all its food in to-go containers, starting with Cuban coffee and pastries in the morning, thick roasted meat sandwiches at lunch, and an evening menu of small-plate bocadillos and traditional entrées. Those entrées include Cuban fried chicken and lechón asado, an intensely flavored, eight-hour slow-roasted pork leg served with sweet plantains with cinnamon cream: It’s great with a side of Cuban black beans and rice.
