The airy, open Chow in Danville feels even more like Kid Central than does Chow Lafayette, but it’s so nice to find another family restaurant where the food inspires appreciation, even amid the din. Among our favorites was a juicy wild salmon served with sautéed corn, poblano chili, bell pepper, zucchini, and yellow squash. The meld of flavors in the veggies, which were cooked and seasoned to perfection, was awesome. We really appreciated being able to order such a great entrée in a small portion. Also look for the thin-crusted pizzette, with tender wild mushrooms and just a smattering of cheese; the grilled squid served on red beans; and any of the salads. The desserts sound killer—we loved the ginger cake, just like in Lafayette—but amazingly fresh peaches in the peach cobbler on one visit were colorless mush on another visit.
