Any excuse to dine at Corners is a good one, but now that Adam Carpenter—Diablo’s Chef of the Year in 2013—is in the kitchen, there’s no excuse not to. Just a month into his tenure, we discovered a dazzling ahi tartare with a citrusy kick served with seaweed-flecked chips. Carpenter’s thick pork chop came alive with contrasting sides: garlicky pan-fried escarole and a silky sweet potato puree. Our favorite dish was the salmon, its skin crusted like glass and its flesh bronzed, supple, and lightly perfumed with smoke. The urban gastropub vibe here is as inviting as ever, and the service remains just formal enough for an indulgent night out. Lunch and dinner daily, brunch Sun.
