You may be tempted to stick to the beer at downtown Concord’s E. J. Phair brewpub. But if you venture no further than the beer list, you’ll miss out on the delicious food. Try the nutty, lemony hummus. Or the crab cakes, which are batter dipped and fried light and crisp, accompanied by coleslaw with a jalapeño vinaigrette kick. The New York steak, although a little thin, is full of flavor, with a rich finish of red wine, shallots, and bits of blue cheese. E. J. Phair has already won over the beer-quaffing crowd, but executive chef Ken Heindel is putting the food on the map, too. Lunch and dinner daily.
