A streak of Pakistani heat blazes through the curries at this casual, counter-service restaurant formerly known as Naan N¹ Curry. Lovers of spicy fare keep business brisk, so the owners have opened three locations: Elmwood (listed above), 2520 Durant Avenue (at Telegraph) near the UC Berkeley campus, and 1497 Solano Avenue in Albany. We loved the creamy, rust-red chicken tikka masala and juicy chicken tandoori, but we¹ll have to admit we¹re wimps and will ask for less chili the next time we order the chana masala (garbanzo bean curry) or the aloo gobi (a cauliflower and potato dish). Even the samosas have a fiery filling. Be sure to order some cooling cucumber raita. Prices are low, low, low, but occasionally the curries are a bit too greasy. Lunch and dinner daily.
