The food at this adorable little Mexican nook has improved in recent months. Check out the shrimp ceviche, a generous serving of fresh, plump prawn pieces expertly balanced with tomato, avocado, red onion, lime, and cilantro. Or the guacamole, also rocking with fresh flavors and, alas, a little too much salt. Both of these appetizers ride well on the golden, rustic-style tortilla chips. Hearty and delicious refried beans make a surprise appearance on the soft chicken tacos. Also surprising but less welcome is the shredded orange and white gringo cheese. The chicken prepared at La Cocina has a nice crispy doneness and lots of rich flavor. Real Mexican fruit juices are a glass of summer all year long. Lunch Mon.Fri., dinner Mon.Sat.
