When the news hit that Lanesplitter, the divey yet delicious pizzeria and pub on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, would be opening a second location in Oakland’s Temescal district, foodheads cheered. This location looks bigger than the original, with high ceilings and hardwood floors, but it has the same motorcycle and local-artwork motif. Salads, served in large bowls with sprouts, garbanzo beans, and carrots, make a refreshing complement to the pizza, which is offered with myriad toppings on both thin and thick crusts. The list of interesting beers from small, local producers—including a hand-pumped cask-conditioned ale that rotates weekly—is reason enough to visit. Lunch and dinner daily. Also in Berkeley.
