In a surprising switch, Alamo Creek Restaurant has morphed into MaggieRay’s Barbecue, and all we can say is, yeehaw! The barbecued chicken couldn’t be more tender and juicy, and its smokiness was just about right. Baby back ribs also fell off the bone. The tangy barbecue sauce packs just enough heat, and the ultrafresh cabbage in the coleslaw packs in the cool. Sweet potato fries got the ratio of meaty potato to crisp fry right, and the grilled shrimp yielded a sweet, succulent bite. The lineup of beer and wine is not fancy, but it probably does the trick for a casual supper on the back patio. Steer clear of the chocolate chip cookie pie unless you like your desserts candy-sweet. Lunch and dinner Tues.–Sat.
