Marica has been anchoring down the south end of Oakland’s Rockridge district for more than a decade with a bright room and elegant menu on College Avenue. Not much has changed; the yellow-hued room is still light and airy, the tables still full, and the restaurant’s 50-50 fish-meat menu still features some winners. A special of shrimp corn cakes with chipotle butter was sweet and hot perfection. Of course, mistakes do happen, and a beautiful ahi steak met a dry end on the grill. Service is always super, and don’t be surprised to find yourself with a drink or appetizer on the house. Dinner daily.
