If you’re a fan of Indian food, you will love the many spicy, pungent aromas wafting from the kitchen of this small, ultracasual, and brightly colored outpost of the San Francisco Naan ’n’ Currys. Those aromas evidence a long menu of varied Pakistani and Indian dishes, from chicken with cauliflower to a big tender lamb shank in curry sauce. Whatever you order, get plenty of hot-from-the-oven naan, perfectly cooked rice, and mango lassi to help put out the fire, which is intense and sustained. The menu offers mild, medium, or extra spicy, but when we ordered a mild version of the ultraplump prawn masala, it was like the other dishes: incendiary. The spinach and cheese (palak paneer) was also spicy, and delicious, and the tandoori boneless lamb packed some heat that was nicely grounded in the wonderful roasted taste imparted by the clay oven. For dessert, check out the rice pudding; it’s a creamy, cooling delight. Lunch and dinner daily.
