Hands down the best Korean restaurant in the Tri-Valley, Ohgane combines a deep respect for its cuisine with a festive atmosphere. The servers’ generous spirit is matched only by the side dishes (we counted 17, including crunchy anchovies and hot-and-spicy pickled delicacies). Order the galbi (short ribs off the bone), and explore the world of Korean “tacos,” with rice paper, daikon, and lettuce leaves standing in for tortillas. There’s much more here than the signature barbecue (grilled over mesquite chips or right at your table), including Ohgane’s classic seafood pancake—a thick, tender, and crisp omelet priced like a cheap pizza, but as satisfying and rewarding as the finest flatbread. Be sure to chase each spicy bite with Bek Se Ju, a chilled sake with a medicinal edge of ginseng and Korean herbs. Lunch and dinner daily.
