Curtis and Esin deCarion are too unpretentious to seek celebrity chef status. But we can all celebrate, or should we say “revel,” in their latest accomplishment. With its sleek glass front and lively and sensuous interior, Revel is a hipster complement to Esin, the couple’s established and statelier Danville restaurant. The entrées here seduce and deliver. Fresh spinach tagliatelle completes a rich and saucy tumble of braised rabbit and wild mushrooms. Flecks of green olive and caramelized fennel enliven Revel’s oh-so-supple salmon. The menu’s thrust, however, is its bar snacks and small plates. Check out the garlicky hummus, and the shrimp and grits, a smoky concoction both creamy and deeply satisfying. Finally, Esin’s legendary desserts get an upscale twist, from mini beignets to a playful riff on Ho Hos. Tying it together is a well-seasoned staff; they put the rev in Revel. Dinner daily.
