From an industrial west Berkeley building, husband-and-wife team Massi and Jen Boldrini (he’s Italian, she’s American) offer a taste of Italy. The weekday-only (excepting dinner on Saturday) restaurant feels like a coffee shop, but the seasonal menu is not coffee shop fare. We loved the insalata con bruciatini, with its chewy squares of pancetta, zippy balsamic vinaigrette, and Gorgonzola crostini. Pan-seared scallops were perfectly cooked but needed a little acid to cut through their richness. Don’t leave without ordering pasta. The tagliatelle Bolognese, tender ribbons of silky house-made pasta tossed with tomato-kissed crumbly meat sauce, is sublime. Lunch Tues.–Fri., dinner Tues.–Sat.
