Named for the Caldecott Tunnel’s retrofit, this inviting taproom is the brainchild of restaurateur Michael Karp (Forge, Table 24) and Pittsburg brewmaster J. J. Phair. Appropriately, The Fourth Bore connects an edgy urban backdrop (raw wood, rusted aluminum siding) with a suburban-friendly concept (American pub food). The glue, of course, is the craft drafts—a playful yet serious list born from 28 rotating taps. And the food has sass. Crispy mozzarella curds are the perfect beer food. The fat, skin-on fries rock, the black and blue burger (try it with a porter) is delicious, and the mac ’n’ cheese comes with lots of fresh, sweet Maine lobster. Lunch Thurs.–Sun., dinner daily.
