Tower Grille’s nod to California cuisine may be halfhearted, but the menu’s quality sets it apart from your average sports bar. A house-made sausage sandwich and fresh ground burgers are big and juicy, with crisp fries doused in garlic or spice. If cheesy skins and meatballs are a turnoff, start with a fritto misto of fresh veggies, and follow up with a salad, tender duck confit, or Moroccan lamb chops. If the bartender decides to rock the house,
refuge can be found in an adjoining “private” room (with a sliding-door silencer) or on the patio outside. A bonus of the party like atmosphere is the friendly and confident servers, who quickly slake your thirst with one of the on-tap beers (or an inoffensive glass of wine). Lunch and dinner daily.
