If the walls of the Townhouse could talk, you’d be at the long, friendly copper bar all night, for the structure—rustic on the outside, an airy art-filled surprise inside—was originally a speakeasy. The draw these days is the comfy eclectic California fare dished up by chef Nacho Pena. Try the daily fish special with garlic mashed potatoes. Favorites from our visit: chicken salad, garlic fries, a hearty vegetable plate with creamy grilled polenta, and pappardelle pomodoro with grilled shrimp. For a fabulous lunch for two, share perfectly fried calamari and a blue-cheese romaine salad, perhaps on the patio. Leave room for the summer berry pudding. Lunch Mon.–Fri., dinner Mon.–Sat.
