Salon owner Nekisa Addis has been recognized on the street since appearing on the reality hairstyling show Shear Genius. But, she hasn’t been getting as much pop-in business at her salon as she would like. “The show’s credits say I’m in Hayward!” says Addis, a Hayward resident whose Beauty Boutique salon is in Concord’s Olivera Crossings shopping center.
Addis stood in line for four hours for a two-minute audition earlier this year, before becoming one of the 12 stylists cast for Shear Genius from across the country. She isn’t at liberty to let us know how she fares on the show, but Addis was still in competition at the season’s halfway point. “The contract I signed was so strict, I have not even told my mom and dad how I did,” she says. Addis, who immigrated to the East Bay from Iran at age six, filmed Genius in March and April in Southern California. “We were filming for so long, it’s interesting to see what they show and what they edit out.” She hosts a party each Wednesday to watch with her friends. “I serve sushi and lots of wine,” she says with a laugh.
Shear Genius airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on Bravo; www.nnnbeautyboutique.com.
